The barns here in America are very different from those in South Africa, they are usually concrete structures and not nearly as picturesque. Most times they are referred to as sheds. The following 3 photos were taken near the Drakensberg in KwaZulu Natal. These two old, interesting barns below are on a tranquil, laid back farm in the Natal Midlands. Barns on an old dairy set-up, but these days are no longer used as a dairy. This farm is also in the midlands of Natal. This old barn is in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. It is pretty, neat and working. Flanking the motorway just outside Knoxville, I found this creeper-covered barn and snapped the two photos below. The Short side faces the road. I feel sad for this barn, on duty but lonely in its unattractive surroundings. Also in the Knoxville area. This derelict barn below in the two photos are also in the Knoxville district. To me, it is interesting and beautiful in its dilapidated state. It kind of tells its own story. I cheated and took these three photos below at the Appalachian Museum.

We had a quiet, lovely day at Cades Cove with family and friends last week. Here are a selection of photos showing the picnic spot and its surroundings. I have included a few pictures of the ‘little wonders’ of nature that abound there.
My name is K.W. Henley and Eda Fisher is the mother of my wife. That relationship has historically been referred to as "mother-in-law"...but she has always been "Mom" to me. This website is my gift to her. Mom loves photography and I wanted her to have this website as a tool to share her pictures with the world. This blog entry is the first, and last, post that I will make. I am writing this initial blog simply to introduce the world to Eda Fisher. I look forward to reading her future posts and seeing the wonderful pictures that she will share to us all.
I have given Eda a challenge to get her rolling with her new blog duties. Starting in June and every month over the summer (and beyond if she is having fun), Eda will have an assignment to complete. The assignment will be a theme that will continue through the month. Her task will be to take pictures that are symbolic of that month’s theme. She will then use this blogging tool on the website to share her photos with the world. And, her blog post will give Eda an opportunity to tell her stories of how she discovered her photo subjects and how they are special to her. So, ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you...Eda Fisher, who on occasion, and without warning to her photo subjects, has been known to...SNAP. Eda's assignment topic for June is.... BARNS |
